With the Magic Mirror, also known as a selfie mirror being such a cutting edge product to the UK, we are often asked why choose a Magic Mirror over something like a traditional Photo Booth. So, we wanted to give you a good understanding on how our Magic Mirror compares to regular photo booths.
While the mirror is a kind of photo booth, there are some definite advantages and disadvantages to both types, so here are our unbiased thoughts.
When it comes to picture quality, a photo booth does have the edge. We use professional Canon DSLR cameras in our magic mirror, the same one in fact that many photo booths use, so why does a standard booth offer a quality advantage?. Firstly, the lens is exposed, not behind the glass as on the mirror and the lighting can be more uniform, as generally is the distance of the subjects to the lens. So these subtle differences can lead to a more consistent quality of picture. With the mirror, subjects can stand much further away from the lens, great for group shots, while the lighting can change during the event, meaning that we may need to recalibrate the magic mirror during the event. You also have the advantage of a clean curtain background with the oval booth, which depending on if you use our backgrounds might also effect the overall ‘feel’ of the pictures.
Of course, in the real world your prints will look similar if not identical, so we are not saying that the quality is poor, its just that there are some limitation in certain situations.
It’s a definite win here for our magic mirror, which can sit discretely in the corner of even the smallest venue. Of course, you still require quite a bit of floor space for the guests to stand on, but if space is at a premium, the magic mirror is definitely worth looking into as the booth stands at around 2.3 metres long and 2m high.
It’s another win for our magic mirror. The magic mirror is well suited to everyone, including partygoers in wheelchairs and smaller children. There is no enclosed booth with our magic mirror, so no access problems. You can also get larger groups in the photo.
Its a debatable one here, we will say that it is about 50-50. Our magic mirror allow for an option green screen backdrop and there are plenty more features to consider. Our magic mirror has a unique luxury design, it allows for full length images, larger groups, option to sign the photos and add emoticons, gesture control, scream features, and full branding are big hits.
Everyone loves photo booths, they are massive fun, but our magic mirror takes it up to a new level. The combination of the novelty factor and the ability to sign the pictures always creates interest with guests so fun is guaranteed.
Layouts and additional photo sets
Traditional photo booths might have the edge if they allow you to select different sizes of images, but many do not offer that option. They have the same limitations of printer size that a Magic Mirror has. We do however have multiple layouts that can be setup for you and then printed out onto 4×6″ prints. We also have the ability to share photos via email and or social media. We also can upload all the photos from your even to our Facebook gallery for your friends to tag themselves in. So possibly if we are pushed we would say its 50/50 again.
